BLINK OF AN EYE
You're twenty-nine and you're going on twenty
Acting like you think there's plenty of time
But your old man paid your way through college
Now he says grow up, get on with your life
You need a family and a wife
But did you ever take the time to ask him why
Your old man knows how fast it goes
Another year's gone in the blink of an eye
No matter how fast you run
Another year comes and goes in the blink of an eye
The river of time flows strong and fast
Before you know it another year's passed you by
In the blink of an eye
Forty now and your girlfriend's twenty
She seems to think that you both have plenty of time
But your friends they all have sons and daughters
Now you think that you aught to give it a try
And your girlfriend wonders why
You're afraid that life's parade will pass you by
And so it goes before you know
Another year's gone in the blink of an eye
No matter how fast you run
Another year comes and goes in the blink of an eye
The river of time flows strong and fast
Before you know it another year's passed you by
In the blink of an eye
